A new shipping container, also called a one-trip container, was manufactured overseas and then made one voyage across the ocean carrying goods.  These containers have minimal dents, scratches, and scrapes and the inside of the shipping container is typically clean.  Used shipping containers have made multiple trips across the ocean, carrying goods or have been used for storage previously.  These containers may have more dents, rust, scratches, or have dirty or damaged internal floors.  Both new and one-trip containers are still wind, weather, and rodent-proof, but the one-trip container may look nicer and be cleaner inside.    

Shipping containers come in three standard sizes.  All containers are 8 ft wide.  Standard lengths are 10 ft, 20 ft, and 40 ft.  The standard height of a container is 8ft 6in.  A taller option is called a high-cube container, which is 9ft 6 in.  The internal measurements of a standard container would be 7ft 8in wide and 7ft 6in tall.  A high-cube container measures 7ft 8in wide and 8ft 6in tall inside the shipping container.

For delivery, we use a chain drive trailer that will tilt down and allow the truck to pull forward along with the trailer, leaving the container on location.  Due to this delivery method, we require 100 ft of clear, drivable, space in front of your container delivery site.  We also will ask if you want the container doors loaded towards the back of the trailer or towards the cab of the delivery truck.  This will determine which side of the container is accessible for entry at your location.

Shipping containers are known by many different names.  Some common names include a Conex box or Conex container, intermodal shipping container, ISO container, cargo container, freight container, sea can, shipping container, and storage container.  These different names come from different historical uses or regional terms.  No matter what you call it we have a container to fit your needs!

It is important to know what is included in the cost quote you receive for a shipping container.  All of our quoted prices include the cost of the shipping container, delivery fee, and taxes.  When you receive quotes from other companies they may not be including delivery or other fees in the final price.  These containers originate at shipping ports on the coasts and must be transported inland.  If you receive a quote from a company in another location you should make sure to ask what transportation costs would be and if you will need special equipment to unload the container once it arrives.  We strive to provide up-front, competitive, pricing with no surprises.
